DESCRIPTION:On World Suicide Prevention Day\, Peaasi.ee and Reval Café will hold mental health cafeś in Tallinn\, Tartu\, Viljandi\, and Pärnu. A large number of suicides can be prevented\, which is why Peaasi.ee puts focus on supporting people through mental health first aid. At the mental health café\, people have the opportunity to talk to volunteers who have completed the mental health first aid training. The volunteers offer help in Estonian\, English\, French\, German\, and Russian. \nThe cafés in Tallinn and Tartu will also hold a roundtable discussion at 13.30-15.30. Everyone is invited to share ways that help them during difficult times and discuss how we can support the people in our lives. The discussions are led by experienced psychologists and Peaasi.ee will ensure that everyone has an equal chance to participate and share their experiences. Several highlights will mark this month of prevention: \nLive & Play Minecraft on the Twitch platform\nOn September the 10th\, streamers Krullthug\, CouPaul\, Kantika\, LeafHelm\, Artillerie\, AliceRage\,\nCailloute\, Boocreas\, Salebeitofficiel and SuperObsy will be offering live moments on their Twitch\nchannels. 3114 professionals will be on hand throughout the day to answer viewers’ questions. \nThey are also inviting the general public to play a Minecraft Jump\, specially built in the 3114’s colors\, over the weekend (9th and 10th of September). One euro per participation will be donated by the organizing association (the Nations Glory server) to the 3114 for the development of its digital tools. The same will apply to the funds raised by the sale of a Minecraft x 3114 accessory kit\, which will be available to players throughout the weekend. \nThe SecretLab company is also taking part in the event\, offering a gaming chair for the fastest jump time. Other prizes will be awarded to the best players. The event is organized in partnership with the Rénovation association\, SOS Suicide Phoenix\, the Bordeaux Local Mental Health Council and the hospital users’ center. \nLa Réunion runs for suicide prevention\nCome and run with EPSMR 3114’s employees in the Camélias Raid race on Sunday September the 10th in the Dionysian capital\, starting at 7.30 am. SUMMARY:MARKING WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY – BEFRIENDERS KENYA
DESCRIPTION:The World suicide Prevention Day is now an important day within the mental health space in Kenya. The Ministry of Health (Mental Health department) has formed a National Multi-Sectoral Suicide Prevention Committee and together with partners have organized one national event for 10th September and several awareness online forums to highlight matters suicide prevention before the main day. However\, this does not stop other initiatives to mark the day from going on and indeed several organizations have individual planned activities. \nBefrienders Kenya is part of the National Multi-sectoral Suicide Prevention Committee but as an organization\, we have also organized a community event together with some grass-root community-based organizations. The activity focuses on awareness on suicide and suicide prevention at that level. This event will be held on 9th September 2023 in Kibra division about 6km from Nairobi city centre. Kibra is a large urban slum area. The theme is in line with the international theme: Creating Hope through action. \nThe program for the day includes: Introduction to the Day as well as the IASP Presidents message\, a Candle Lighting Ceremony\, sharing from those with lived experience (a survivor of suicide and one bereaved through suicide)\, Presentations on Decriminalization of Suicide in Kenya (a current topic in the country) and plenary discussions. We expect about 100 people in terms of attendance and there will be some snacks and refreshments offered. \nWe hope that through this half day awareness creation event\, community members will be encouraged to talk about feelings\, struggles\, experiences and that it will encourage help seeking behavior and give tips on how to help a suicidal person.

DESCRIPTION:Like every year\, on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day\, Sunday September 10\, the SOS Suicide association is organizing 2 events in partnership with the Town Hall of Pirae:\nWith the support and historic partnership of the Municipality of Pirae. \n• Ecumenical evening Saturday September 9 from 6:00 p.m. in the gardens of Pirae Town Hall.\nAfter a brief introduction by the president of the association and speeches by officials\, we will let the different religious denominations\, youth groups from several educational establishments and testimonies express themselves.“Creating Hope through Action”: To prevent suicide\, we must become a beacon of light for those who are suffering. You can be that light.”\nLike everywhere in the world\, during this evening\, we will light candles in memory of those who have passed away during the year. \n• The Rando Cyclo\, organized by the Pirae Cyclisme association Sunday September 10 – departure given at 7:00 a.m. from the gardens of the Pirae town hall.\nThe concept is to accumulate the kilometers completed by all cyclists registered to join the IASP movement\, “Cycle Around the Globe”. Last year this global event made it possible to circle the earth 7 times. French Polynesia completed 24\,000 km in 2022. \nDeparture from Pirae Town Hall will be given around 7:00 a.m. On arrival\, in the gardens of Pirae Town Hall\, we will draw lots for the prizes at stake. Registration on the website www.fenuamoove.com\nThe SOS Suicide association advocates prevention thanks to public and private partners. \nKey Activities:\n1. Direct and Telephone Reception: The association provides direct and telephone reception to individuals in suicidal crisis. This activity is supported by public funders\, anonymous donors and the towns of Pirae and Punaauia. \n2. Telephone Crisis Line:\nIn 2022\, the center handled 1\,574 calls through the telephone crisis line\, of which 1\,546 were related to suicidal people.\nAmong the 613 individuals treated\, 592 presented a suicide risk.\nRapid treatment was made possible thanks to collaboration with law enforcement\, firefighters\, SAMU and the SOS Suicide Association. \n3. Awareness and Information Actions:\nWe carried out 82 interventions across Polynesia\, affecting more than 13\,400 people.\nThey made it possible to inform the population about the recognition and management of suicidal crises\, as well as the role of sentinel in suicide prevention.\nInterventions took place in schools and universities\, youth associations and religious communities. \n4.
