The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all aspects of people’s lives, relationships, health and well-being – the world over – and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. During public health emergencies, it is vital that mental health and suicide prevention remain priorities. It is important that we all as individuals do what we can to look after ourselves and each other.

As the leading global suicide prevention organisation, IASP’s COVID-19 Resource Centre aims to provide information for those seeking resources related to the pandemic and suicidal behaviour, suicidal ideation and self-harm.

In April 2020, the then IASP President, mindful of IASP’s leading role as an international suicide prevention organisation, in furtherance of the organisation’s central mission, and in response to the threats to global mental health and the risk of suicidal behaviour resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, established a Presidential Special Task Force on COVID-19 (PSTFC). Read about the resulting IASP Protocol here.

The International Crisis Suicide Prevention Research Collaboration (ICSPRC), originally established to enhance good quality collaborative research on the prevention and management of suicide and suicidal behaviours in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, works in partnership and collaboration with the International Association of Suicide Prevention (IASP) in order to maximise the societal impact of research.
